Herbs we supply are culinary and/or beneficial to "perfect health". They are all natural dried leaves or other parts of the herbal plant. Many of the herbs can also be used for herbal teas. As a general rule, herbs are caffeine-free.

Herbs, like spices, can be very unique to certain countries or cultures. Besides culinary uses, some herbs can also be used as potpourri, for sachets, or even to freshen the air with their scent.

One of our most popular items,French Roasted Chicory Root is a flavorfull hot drink at any time. Drink it alone or blend it with another herb or with coffee. It is similar looking to ground coffee but that's where the comparison ends. French Roasted Chicory Root is naturally caffeine-free and has a more "roasty" flavor than coffee. French Roasted Chicory Root's other plus is that it is more soluable in water than coffee, which means you use a lot less of it when brewing.

Chicory Root has been used since the first century and was well known for it's extra health benefits. Traditionally it helps cleanse the blood and improve the health of your liver. Drinking it can give you a sedative, very relaxed feeling. French Roasted Chicory Root should not be taken in large quantities.

Star Anise has a licorice flavor and can be a substitute for Anise. It has a beautiful star shape (some stars are broken from being bagged). It is used extensively in China, Vietnam, Indian and other Asian countries for soups, stews, sauces, and meat dishes.

Seeds from the Star Anise can be chewed raw to aid digestion. As an herbal tea it is traditionally used to remedy colic and rheumatism.

In Women's Health, parsley can help bring on a delayed period as well as ease menstrual cramps and pain. To take as an infusion, add 1-2 tsp dried parsley to 1 cup boiling water. Spearmint in many countries is called "Nana". It is a main ingredient in Moroccan Tea. It has a strong, refreshing flavor. A must ingredient for cucumber and yogurt salad, tabouli, and stuffed vegetables such as grape leaves, squash, bell peppers. It's distinctive flavor would be missed in the mentioned dishes. Can be ground and used for baking.

Spearmint has been around since the Roman days and used for beneficial health in addition to culinary. As an herbal tea, spearmint traditionally treats indigestion, gas & nausea. It can help relieve or even stop vomiting during pregnancy. Spearmint historically tends to help relieve common cold, cough, sinusitis, fever and bronchitis symptoms. Make a mild version of the tea and it's gentle enough for babies with colic.

STEVIA LEAF POWDER - SWEET LEAF

Stevia, or sometimes called Sweet Leaf, comes as cut, dried leaves that have been ground to a fine powder. Powder is green. No processing was done just grinding the leaves. It is a natural herb with the leaves having a sweet flavor. It is caffeine-free as most herbs are. You can put a tiny pinch in your warm beverage.

Use the Stevia powder for baking. Add to cakes, pastries, cookies. You'll have to experiment to test out how much sweetness you desire.

As for health benefits, Stevia has been shown to stimulate the release of insulin and normalize the response to glucose, especially in type 2 diabetes.
